As Vice President of Strategy and Innovation, Dr. Swanson directs strategy and innovation for Allasys, including cohort-based methodology programs and organizational engagements. His federal innovation experience includes SBIR and STTR program management, startup engagement, and program leadership within a Department of Defense venture organization (described here without implying endorsement by the Department of Defense or the U.S. Air Force).

He is Affiliate Faculty at the University of Washington's Global Innovation Exchange, holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, and has completed two NSF I-Corps fellowships. He co-founded S2 Innovation in partnership with MIT and participates in the MIT Open Learning cluster on Innovation in Learning + Education.

Through S2 Innovation and related programs, he has mentored more than one hundred startups and guided more than one thousand technology teams through structured customer discovery and venture formation processes.
